On July 10-11, 2019, Family Over Everything Foundation held its annual youth basketball camp at Competitive Edge Sports in King of Prussia, PA. During the two-day camp, youth participated in basketball drills led by Chuck Ellis and heard from motivational speakers, former Villanova star Tony Chennault and NFL player (and Philadelphia native) Will Parks. Participants also got basketball instruction from co-founders Marcus and Markieff Morris and board member Sean Evans. FOE Foundation provided round-trip transportation from Philadelphia for the youth, as well as lunch, giveaways and more. On July 13, 2019, Family Over Everything Foundation hosted its first ever Men’s Summit at Hilton City Avenue in Philadelphia for men and teenage boys from the region. The Summit featured engaging discussion and presentations from powerful speakers on topics often left out of the classroom and public conversation, including physical and mental health, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, career success and civic engagement. Featured speakers included Marcus and Markieff Morris, Sean Evans, Mario Little, as well as Philadelphia rapper Freeway. Special thanks to Philadelphia’s Office of Black Engagement for their partnership.
Family Over Everything Foundation held its first ever Celebrity Softball Game on July 14, 2019, featuring a Philadelphia-centric roster of professional athletes, entertainers, and policymakers, including Marcus and Markieff Morris, 76ers star Tobias Harris, rapper Gillie Da Kid, WUSL Power99FM’s DJ Diamond Kuts, and Pennsylvania State Rep. Danilo Burgos. Held at Blackhawks Field in North Philadelphia, the game provided local youth and their families with an exciting opportunity to see their favorite athletes and celebrities up close. The Foundation provided giveaways to participants, as well as delicious popsicles from Whimsicle.
