Family Over Everything had the honor of hosting a Thanksgiving feast for 150 people at Woodstock Family Center in Philadelphia. This event came to life with the help of St. Gabriels Hall Culinary program, who cooked the entire meal for the guests.

Saint Gabriel’s Hall is an all-male juvenile placement facility, serving youth from the city of Philadelphia for over 120 years. Steeped in the LaSallian tradition of education and service started by Saint John Baptiste De La Salle, Saint Gabriel’s Hall provides a wide array of treatment services that strengthen and support at-risk youth such as family and individual counseling, educational services, and vocational training.

The Culinary Arts program at Saint Gabriel’s Hall offers students the opportunity to earn an industry recognized certification while learning the fundamentals of food preparation and the inner workings of food service management. Service to community begins by working alongside Saint Gabriel’s Hall staff; catering and serving food at meetings and seasonal celebrations, including the reception for the high school graduation ceremony.

Through education, vocational training, and a trauma-informed approach to healing the heart and mind, the programs at Saint Gabriel’s Hall help students grow and change into responsible, productive citizens when they return to their community.
